Well Jack the Wolf he was my friend
We used to walk together at night
Never did I think I would lose my friend
To the hands of some evil men

It all began on a lazy morn’
I rose early to pick that corn
Jack the wolf he was lyin’ in bed
Not a single worry in his head

I spend my days alone in the field
I try to make my daily bread
While old Jack, he just does what he feels
He wouldn’t harm no human head

I returned late to the farm one night
I was dirty and sore as sin
Jack was smilin’ in the candlelight
We sat down for a bottle of gin (and we drank it)

We stayed up late discussing the day
We would listen to the lady’s croon
Jack would say everything is alright
Then he’d howl at the moon

Some people decided peace wasn’t the way
They tried to leave Jack for dead
But old Jack ran like the light of the day
I looked up at the moon hanging overhead
And I hope that Jack is somewhere
Lyin’ peaceful in his bead

Well Jack the Wolf he was my friend
We used to walk together at night
Never did I think I would lose my friend
To the hands of some evil men
